Overview

The “External trip initiation 3-pole” function processes any signals from external protection or supervision devices. It enables the integration of any signals from external protection equipment in the indication and tripping
processing, for example from transient ground-fault relays or Buchholz protection. It also enables direct tripping of the circuit breaker in conjunction with busbar-protection applications and direct tripping of the circuit breaker in the case of circuit-breaker failure at the other line end.

For more detailed information on “External trip initiation 3-pole” function, refer to SIPROTEC 5 devices, V8.30 & higher manuals.
