GE / Broken conductor detection _ Element settings & highlights _ GU8232

Table of Contents

Overview

The “Broken conductor detection” element detects a transmission line broken conductor condition or a single-pole breaker malfunction condition by checking the phase current input signals and the I_2 / I_1 ratio. The intent is to detect a single phase broken conductor only. As such, two-phase or three-phase broken conductors cannot be detected.

For more detailed information on “Broken conductor detection” element, refer to GE, Universal Relay (UR) family of products, Version 8.0x manuals.
